Did you say Jasmin Majorelle?
Jasmin Majorelle is an Eau de Parfum combining jasmine, ylang-ylang and coriander. A bold combination that gives this luminous fragrance an aromatic dimension. With its white musk base notes, this fragrance is ideal for wearing throughout the day.
A scent for jasmine lovers that will transport you to the Indian plantations that provide us with this rare and delicate ingredient.
Jasmin Majorelle, created in 1981 by Yuri Gutsatz, was previously known as Jasmin.
L'histoire de Jasmin Majorelle
1981: Jasmin Majorelle was born in a year when romanticism reigned supreme. As the wave of royal weddings blossomed, Charles and Diana set the date and the fashion was flowing and feminine, taking precedence over the future Princess of Wales. Jasmin Majorelle was created by Yuri Gutsatz in 1981 and was simply called Jasmin.
‘This is how true French perfume should be, made with love and pride.’
Krmarich, Fragrantica user
Appropriately, Yuri and his wife Arlette created Le Jardin Retrouvé where they lived: in the Cour Jasmin in Paris – undoubtedly the perfect address for a perfumer!
Le Jardin Retrouvé perfumes had a loyal and somewhat bohemian clientele among the big names in French haute perfumery, including actress Jane Birkin.
The return to life of Jasmin Majorelle
In 2017, Michel and his wife, artist and writer Clara Feder, revived Le Jardin Retrouvé, carefully selecting seven of Yuri's fragrances. The encounter was so enthusiastic that they came up with an idea that had never been done before. They asked their online community to choose the Yuri fragrances they wanted to bring back to life.
Michel and Clara had hundreds of Yuri formulas meticulously recorded and chose four to send out in a small discovery pack of samples, labelled only with a coloured dot. As the votes came in, Jasmin Majorelle, or yellow dot as it was labelled, did not win (that distinction went to Oriental Sans Souci). However, the loyalty and affection for Jasmin Majorelle was such that Michel and Clara could not resist asking their in-house perfumer, Maxence Moutte, to recreate it from Yuri's notes. A limited edition of 150 50ml bottles was produced, each signed and numbered, taking its place among the ten precious haute parfumerie fragrances of Le Jardin Retrouvé.
‘The jasmine here gives a more sensual than animalistic effect and, with a finishing touch of sweet sage and even a hint of heliotrope, shows that Yuri was at the top of his game.’

THE TEXT INSPIRED BY CLARA FEDER ON JASMIN MAJORELLE
Is that him? you wonder as you gaze at the graceful silhouette that seems to float above the ponds, beyond the fountains, in the blue of the renovated building. Your imagination, aided by the heat of the midday sun, thinks it perceives the man who once created his inspired worlds here. But only a rare fragrance of jasmine, ylang-ylang, Italian lemon, coriander and iris responds, further confusing your senses. Pure joy lights up your face.
