Jasmin Majorelle is a radiant Eau de Parfum that blends jasmine, ylang-ylang, and coriander to create a bouquet of white flowers that is both sunny, airy, and joyful. It evokes a garland of freshly picked jasmine flowers, as if the flower is blooming right before you.
Created in 1981 by Yuri Gutsatz under the name Jasmin, this niche fragrance is inspired by the warm nights of North Africa and today finds its imaginary setting in the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech, bathed in light and deep blue.
The Jasmin Majorelle bottles are mechanically openable.
Jasmin Majorelle opens with an aromatic, citrusy freshness where coriander, sage, and lemon awaken the jasmine like a warm breeze over a Mediterranean garden. The first few seconds give the impression of walking through a sunlit garden, surrounded by aromatic herbs and white flowers ready to bloom.
At the heart, jasmine becomes the hero of the composition: bright, generous, yet more sensual than truly animalic, softened by ylang-ylang and neroli, which add a sunlit halo. In the background, iris brings a luxurious, velvety touch, while white musks extend the feeling of cleanliness, softness, and light on the skin.
Jasmin Majorelle takes its name today from the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech, famous for its intense blue, ponds, paths, and lush plants. It’s a garden where the sunlight feels almost tactile, where one imagines jasmine releasing its fragrance at dusk, blended with the warmth of the stone.
In the world of the House, this garden becomes the dream setting for Yuri’s olfactory memory: that of the warm nights of North Africa and the intoxicating jasmine he knew when younger, transposed into a vibrant Moroccan setting filled with color and light.
‘This is how true French perfume should be, made with love and pride.’
Krmarich, Fragrantica user
At 25, after a heartbreak and amid the backdrop of war, Yuri joins the French Foreign Legion and is stationed in North Africa. He retains from this period the memory of warm nights and the heady jasmine, ever-present in the air.
Later, in Marseille, he trains at Chiris and becomes the perfumer we know today. Jasmin, created in 1981, is his way of turning those memories into a fragrance, enriched with an expensive and beautiful iris to give it depth and magic. Years later, Clara Feder connects this memory to the Majorelle Garden and renames the creation Jasmin Majorelle, thus bringing Yuri’s personal story into dialogue with an iconic garden of Morocco.
In 2017, during the revival of the House, Michel and Clara ask their community to choose which of Yuri’s fragrances to bring back from anonymous samples. Jasmin Majorelle (the "yellow dot") doesn’t win the final vote, but it stirs such loyalty and affection that Michel and Clara decide to resurrect it anyway. Maxence Moutte, house perfumer, recreates it based on Yuri’s notes, and a limited edition of 150 numbered bottles is produced.
Jasmin Majorelle is for anyone who loves natural, luminous jasmine and is looking for a white floral fragrance that exudes joy rather than heavy seduction. It will appeal to both jasmine purists and those who shy away from overly animalic interpretations.
Jasmin Majorelle is perfect for spring and summer, when its sunny, white floral notes blend with the light and warmth. It can also be worn in winter to evoke memories of warm days, like an instant projection into a sunlit garden.
With its medium intensity and white musk base, it makes an excellent companion for the daytime: at the office, on a walk, on vacation, or for a light evening. It’s a fragrance that brings a smile without being overwhelming.
Some enthusiasts mention a jasmine that’s more sensual than truly animalic, with a luminous softness that gives the impression of a garland of fresh flowers rather than an overpowering soliflore. Others highlight the role of coriander and sage, which add a modern aromatic twist and make the composition more lively.
Fragrance critics also note that the addition of iris gives the perfume depth, magic, and a luxurious character, demonstrating just how masterful Yuri was in his craft. Many describe it as a jasmine of pure joy, evoking happy memories and making one want to smile.
THE TEXT BY CLARA FEDER INSPIRED ON JASMIN MAJORELLE
Is that him? you wonder as you gaze at the graceful silhouette that seems to float above the ponds, beyond the fountains, in the blue of the renovated building. Your imagination, aided by the heat of the midday sun, thinks it perceives the man who once created his inspired worlds here. But only a rare fragrance of jasmine, ylang-ylang, Italian lemon, coriander and iris responds, further confusing your senses. Pure joy lights up your face.
Jasmin Majorelle smells like a garland of fresh jasmine flowers, illuminated by lemon, coriander, and sage, with a base of iris and white musks. It’s a luminous, joyful jasmine, neither too animalic nor too sweet.
Yes, it’s a genderless white floral. The composition is designed to suit anyone who loves jasmine, without strict gender codes: it’s the flower and the light that speak, not the “masculine/feminine” category.
Yes, Jasmin Majorelle is associated with "pure joy": its olfactory profile, combining sunny jasmine, citrus, and white musks, is designed to evoke cheerfulness, happy memories, and the days of spring or summer.
