LJR A REBEL BRAND!

From Yuri's Manifesto to mood-boosters

Our story begins in 1975 with a visionary named Yuri Gutsatz – not just any perfumer but the man who would dare to challenge an entire industry. While
fashion houses were stealing credit from anonymous perfumers, Yuri was
about to drop a bombshell that would echo through decades.

A MANIFESTO

In 1979, standing before the prestigious French Perfumers' Society, Yuri
delivered a speech that sent shockwaves through the fragrance world:
"Perfumer, Your Name is Nobody." He called out the hypocrisy – how could
an industry built on artistry refuse to name its artists?

This wasn't just a speech; it was a manifesto that would give birth to the entire niche fragrance movement.

FOUNDER OF OSMOTHEQUE

But Yuri's rebellion didn't stop there. By 1976, he was already dreaming of
something unprecedented – a conservatory for perfumes.

This wild idea would eventually become the Osmothèque Conservatoire
International des Parfums
in 1990, co-founded with legendary perfumers
Jean-Claude Ellena and Jean Kerleo.

Imagine – preserving the olfactory
heritage of humanity
, one precious formula at a time.

The Phoenix Rises: Failures breed insightful successes

Fast-forward to 2017: Clara and Michel weren't just relaunching a brand – they were resurrecting a revolution.

Our first act of rebellion? Le Nécessaire – an eco-conceived box that dared to ask: "What if luxury could be sustainable?" This wasn't your typical perfume launch. Picture aluminum containers, glass funnels, and refillable bottles at a time when the industry was obsessed with single-use glamour.

The world wasn't ready. It failed spectacularly. But here's the beautiful twist – failure became our
teacher, and from its ashes rose the now-beloved 15ml Petit Flacon
format.

By 2018, we made another industry-first move: refundable samples. While competitors hoarded their precious drops Le Jardin Retrouvé was saying, "Try before you buy – we believe in our creations."

The Road to Clean Revolution of 2021

Then came 2021 – the year everything changed for Le Jardin Retrouvé. As the world grappled with a pandemic, we launched our most ambitious quest yet: The Road to Clean Project.

Enter Maxence Moutte, the hero of this particular odyssey.

His mission? Transform every single historic formula into clean beauty masterpieces while preserving their olfactory perfection.

Imagine the pressure – reformulating decades of artistry without losing a single note of magic. The challenges were immense. When Lyral was banned, Maxence found a Givaudan R/D alternative. When galaxolide proved non-biodegradable, he crafted an environmentally friendly synthetic musk blend that maintained those
beloved soft, powdery notes.

Through 17 trials on Sandalwood Sacré alone, Maxence proved that conscious
beauty doesn't mean compromise. Each reformulation was a love letter to
Yuri's original vision, ensuring that when customers opened their
bottles, they'd smell the original formula – not a shadow of it.

Customers' attachement to fragrances starts with fragrance recognition - not with "my fragrance smells different!". Customers' attachment to brands starts with trust.

Transparency: an Innovation That Matters

While others talked about sustainability, Le Jardin Retrouvé took action. Our 2021 porcelain diffuser with porous reeds—fully reusable, using 92% naturally sourced diffusing liquid. Our scented candles made with vegetable wax in beautiful reusable porcelain jars. Our use of organic wheat alcohol that protects aquatic life.

But perhaps our most radical action has been transparency itself.

In an industry built on secrecy, in 2023 we began listing all actual key ingredients (natural and synthetic, explaining their use and role) on our website. No more allergen lists that tell customers nothing about the actual formulas and lead them to believe that INCI lists are true ingredient lists.

No more confusion.

THE MOODBOOSTER REVOLUTION

2022 brought an unexpected gift: Givaudan's mood-booster patents.

Suddenly, two of Yuri's 1970s creations – Sandalwood Sacré (WELLBEING) and Cuir de Russie (QUALITY OF SLEEP) – were scientifically proven to enhance human moods.

By 2024 and 2025, Maxence Moutte's four new creations – Mousse Arashiyama (ENERGY), Osmanthe Liu Yuan (JOY), Violette Kew (WELLBEING), and Immortelle Babylone – all received mood-booster Certification.

The bold decision? Move ALL fragrances to mood-boosters by 2026.
