As a child in Saint Petersburg, Yuri was already using Eau de Cologne, making it a kind of Proustian memory for him. Later, as a perfumer, he became passionate about the history of perfumery, studying in particular Jean-Marie Farina’s Eau de Cologne, created in the 18th century.
At the time, in the 19th century, Cologne was the only fragrance “tolerated” in French high society in the morning: heavier perfumes were reserved for courtesans. It was known as “sent-bon,” generously splashed to wake up, refresh, and feel good. Yuri decided to give his own interpretation of this historic gesture by adding a touch of petitgrain and a deeper structure, creating with Eau des Délices a warm, versatile embrace that can be used both in the morning to wake up and in the evening to relax.
In 2017, Michel Gutsatz and Clara Feder, with perfumer Maxence Moutte, revived this Fresh Eau as part of the new collection, reminding that “every great perfume house should have a beautiful Eau de Cologne in its collection.”
