Oriental Sans Souci opens with a bright accord of bergamot, lemon, and basil, bringing an elegant, almost sparkling freshness before giving way to an opulent floral heart. Rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and neroli form a rich, slightly powdery bouquet, evoking the great classic orientals while remaining very wearable.
In the base, vanilla, tonka bean, patchouli, oakmoss, and ambergris create a warm, velvety amber trail, with that refined powdery sensation reminiscent of certain vintage “Guerlain-style” fragrances, but reinterpreted in a more contemporary and clean way.

The name Oriental Sans Souci refers to the Sanssouci park and palace in Potsdam, famous for its terraced gardens, pavilions, and 18th-century architectural whims. Among them, the Chinese pavilion and chinoiseries illustrate how Europe dreamed of and reinterpreted the Orient at that time.
The fragrance plays on the same imagination: a European garden steeped in history, where tree-lined paths, decorated pavilions, and sculptures interact with imagined “oriental” touches. Notes of citrus, white flowers, vanilla, and amber evoke this bridge between East and West, between the dream of the Orient and European elegance.
Created in 1963, Oriental Sans Souci was part of the thousands of formulas carefully recorded by Yuri Gutsatz but never launched during his lifetime. Preserved in the Maison’s archives, these formulas were rediscovered when Clara and Michel relaunched Le Jardin Retrouvé.
In 2018, they decided to offer several of these forgotten treasures to the Le Jardin Retrouvé community in the form of anonymous samples marked with a simple colored dot. When the votes came in, Oriental Sans Souci emerged as the clear favorite and was chosen to be reissued. Maxence Moutte reworked it in 2021 to meet current requirements (vegan, 95.8% natural) while respecting the original balance imagined by Yuri.

Its warm, enveloping, and slightly powdery profile creates a comforting and sophisticated atmosphere, often associated with relaxation. The “Relaxation” certification is pending, but many people already wear it as an end-of-day fragrance or for calm moments.
On most skin types, Oriental Sans Souci offers long-lasting wear, up to around 10–12 hours, with a present yet elegant sillage. The citrus/floral opening gradually gives way to an amber, vanilla, and patchouli base that lingers on the skin and clothing until the end of the day or evening.
To fully enjoy this powdery oriental fragrance, spray it from about 15–20 cm onto pulse points: neck, chest, wrists, or the inner elbows. Two to four sprays are usually enough, especially in the evening, as its amber and vanilla structure provides good projection and excellent longevity.
Oriental Sans Souci has been reworked to reach 95.8% natural-origin ingredients, using organic alcohol. It contains no added colorants, preservatives, or UV filters, in line with Le Jardin Retrouvé’s clean beauty commitment.
The bottles of Oriental Sans Souci are designed to be mechanically refillable: they can be opened and refilled, for example by transferring perfume from a 50ml bottle to a 15ml one. Dedicated refills are not yet available online, but the bottle design allows them to be reused rather than discarded, supporting a more responsible approach.
The Eau de Parfum is the classic format (15/50/125 ml) for everyday or evening wear, with a bottle designed to last. The mini spray is a travel-friendly format, ideal for testing the fragrance over several days or taking it on trips. The Discovery Set includes the Oriental Sans Souci mini spray alongside other fragrances, allowing you to compare several scent universes before choosing your favorite bottle.
