THE MOODBOOSTERS : MOOD LIFTING FRAGRANCES

So far, five of our fragrances correspond to Givaudan’s recommendations validated by years of research, each enhancing a specific type of mood such as :

Energy
, alongside Mousse Arashiyama,

Joy
, in the company Osmanthe Liu Yuan also known as O.L.Y.,

Wellbeing
, accompanied by Sandalwood Sacré and Violette Kew

Quality of sleep
, thanks to Cuir de Russie,

It’s important to remember, however, that the natural properties and benefits of certain ingredients such as rose, lavender and sandalwood (present in several Le Jardin Retrouvé fragrances) have long been scientifically recognised.

How can mood-enhancing fragrances be tested scientifically?

In the case of Moodboosters, Givaudan’s research teams have been able to prove that specific combinations of ingredients, when they appear in fragrance formulas, have a direct impact on certain areas of the brain. In other words, since the tremendous progress made in medical imaging, we can follow the path of what you smell all the way to the inside of your brain, and find out what emotions, or what benefits they will bring you.

This research has made it possible to create algorithms that recommend to the perfumer, when creating a fragrance, which types of ingredients and in what quantities they should be included in the formula for the fragrance to provide a particular benefit.

Fragrances certified as "moodboosters"

In 2022, Le Jardin Retrouvé ‘ran’ all its fragrance formulas through Givaudan’s algorithm and we were surprised to see that Sandalwood Sacré, created by our founder Yuri Gutsatz in 1979, and Cuir de Russie (1977), were both recognised as Moodboosters, with certificates to back them up. The fragrance Mousse Arashiyama created by Maxence Moutte (2021) was also certified.

In 2023, Osmanthe Liu Yuan was created specifically with these recommendations in mind, and received the same certificate.

In 2024, Violette Kew, certified as bringing well-being, was created by Maxence Moutte.

Le Jardin Retrouvé is proud to be the first heritage perfume house to offer a collection of mood-enhancing fragrances since 2022.

So far, five of our fragrances have been crafted by Givaudan, each enhancing a specific type of mood such as energy (Mousse Arashiyama), joy (Osmanthe Liu Yuan also called O.L.Y.), wellbeing (Sandalwood Sacré) (Violette Kew) and sleep (Cuir de Russie).

It's important to remember that the natural properties and benefits of certain ingredients such as rose, lavender and sandalwood (present in several Le Jardin Retrouvé fragrances) have long been scientifically recognised, which is why their formulas contain between 90 and 99% natural ingredients and are certified as such by an independent laboratory. In other words, Le Jardin Retrouvé fragrances truly capture the beauty of the garden!
